The Deer Camp

Nine months ago, Tyler McCaul and Greg Watts moved into a new place in Soquel, CA (in between downtown Santa Cruz and Aptos).

With the help of the local riders, they created a backyard full of jumps and stuff to ride their bikes.

The Deer Camp was born.

This is Tom from Australia.

He likes trails and prefers to ride with style more than doing tricks on his bike.

Santa Cruz With Alex Reveles

It has been about 5 years since I had been back to Santa Cruz after moving to NYC.

Why would you ever leave Santa Cruz you ask? You can think of New York as the Whistler, World Cup, Post Office, and Rampage of the photo world all rolled up into one and constantly going full throttle.

I think any photographer who hasn’t been exposed to the top of the commercial photo industry owes it to themselves to at least research some of the amazing work that has come from and continues to pour out of NYC.

That being said, I’m a Nor Cal kid at heart, and NYC will kill your soul.

Freedom 40

When you are a kid you always dream on having a nice house and a backyard full of dirt jumps to ride your bike.

Freedom40 is a reality and is the name of Eric’s backyard, somewhere in the Santa Cruz, CA area where you can ride trails, slopestyle and downhill.

I was able to check that place out and take some photos of Kyle Jameson, Jeff Herbertson and Alex Reveles while they were riding their bikes beating the heat last month.

FYI – Jeff Herbertson

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Jeff is a badass dude and loves to ride his bike. That is not a big surprise if you live in Aptos and your roomates are Kyle Jameson and Ryan Howard.

He throws down everyday, both on his DJ and DH bikes, and is always down to have a good time with his friends.

Read more about Jeff and his riding life below.

The Sensus Swayze Grips

Freeride legend Cam Zink started his own company called The Sensus in early 2009 with just a couple of slide-on grips.

I bought my first pair of black Sensus that same year and since then I have never ridden other brands when it comes to grips.

Five years later the company has growth worldwide with all the best riders riding them on their handlebars. They are the most dominant grips on the planet.

The new signature grips from Cam Zink are the Gum Rubber Swayze slide-ons and I have been lucky to test them out in Lloret Trails.

Disposable Trails

I bought a cheap Fujifilm disposable camera last week and went to La Poma Bikepark and Lloret Trails to try it out.

The first thing that came up into my mind was that I wanted to portray the fun and joy of riding a bicycle.

I had no idea how the photos would look like.

This is the final result after all the developing process.
